Incidentally, my dad, in his later years, spent much of his time with his dog, Duchess in his lap and,of course, in the house. My mom's dog Herman was my mom's constant companion and is as big a ham as my mom was. Herman would go sit by mom's chair and pose when visitors came in with their camera visible. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, dogs might be people recycled after they learned how to live by, not just talk about, the golden rule.
