WAITING FOR MISS ALICE- Alice Moseley,Queen of the May, sits on her wheelbarrow throne guarded by her trusted companion, Herman. Herman with his toothy grins and the softness of his coat, was to his owner a true wonder dog. She was proud of Herman and he was my mom's biggest fan. My mom had a fair share of ego and nothing, except maybe Herman, made her prouder than her flowers. Soon after moving to Bay St. Louis, the Bay Waveland Garden Club twice awarded Miss Alice the "Yard of the Month" designation. She kept her sign up long after her month had passed, but at some point,  she thought it might seem immodest to display her sign in perpetuity. She took the sign down, but  she loved that sign so much that she had it repainted as her "Alice Moseley Studio" sign.  It still occupies a place of honor on the museum's front porch. Also seen in this print are some of my mom's best fictional friends. Present from real life is Joe, the bird dog from the print "Until Today, I Thought I was Folks." Her fictional friends are people she invented and who populated many of her prints and originals. The black lady with the two children is from the invitation for the party and auction  Barry Pincus organized for her. The farmer on the porch was seen previously involved in the hog killing. This print epitomized how Alice Moseley felt about Bay St. Louis, a place full of flowers and people who loved her.
