NURSERY RHYME-CHILDHOOD IS FOREVER-Bay Saint Louis was settled by the French and later, the Italians and the Spanish. Names like Cuevas, Ladner, formerly Ladnier, Favre, Bougeouis, Dedeaux and Beningo are common. Many of the families around here are also Catholic and, not unlike, the old woman who lived in a shoe, some have so many kids they don't know what to do. In the old days they put their children to work on their farms or shrimp and oyster boats. More children meant more hands to work. In these days of massive childhood entitlements, more means 10 video games for 10 kids,10 cell phones for 10 kids etc. It's stressful to have many kids these days. In reality, childhood is not forever. it just seems that way if are a mom with 10 kids. Another way to think of this print is to remember Mardi Gras. Folks around here know how to have fun and to many of these "grown ups", "Childhood is Forever" and there is a lot of fun for children of all ages. It is called Mardi Gras. There is something nice about a child of eighty still out there catching beads.
